The Newport Mansions....... AMAZING!!!

My dad told me about these mansions in Newport, Rhode Island that he visited while in the military. Diane and I drove down during the week and it was amazing. We visited 5 mansions which still in my mind amaze me. Some rooms were completely covered in gold, paintings on the ceilings, some rooms were completely marble, and they are right on the water. It was neat to learn of the history and type of craftsmanship that went into the homes.
The boys enjoyed the end of each tour because they could finally move around and play in the grass. Connor was so funny because he would fall on the grass and then lift his arms and legs off the ground because he didn't want to touch the grass. He would just stay like that until I came and helped him up. He looked like a little baby beached whale. I love him.

We couldn't take pictures of the inside so I bought a book that shows a lot of pictures of the many rooms we saw. The pictures of the outsides of the house don't even do them justice. If you ever get a chance to see these mansions I definitely recommend it. Definitely!!

This last picture was my favorite. It is the most ornate and our first mansion we saw. It was called The Breakers. Finally King Carson!!!!

I am so jealous! I teach interior design and use some of those mansions as examples.
